What is Hypnosis?
There are many definitions of hypnosis but the latest definition of hypnosis is that it is "the therapeutic use of suggestion during an altered state of consciousness to effect positive changes in a person's behavior and to treat a range of health conditions. It has been used to decrease pain, for weight control and in trance-like states to access the deepest levels of the mind."
History of Hypnosis
There Have been some evidence of the use of hypnotic-like phenomena in many ancient cultures. There has been a lot of discussion and debate on the use of hypnosis as anesthetic power. According to scholar, God put Adam "into a deep sleep" to take his rib to form Eve. There are also some interesting ancient records which talk about hypnosis being used by the oracle at Delphi. This also had been supposedly used to carry on the final rites in ancient Egypt. The modern history of hypnosis had started in the late 1700s.
Hypnosis myths
There are many myths attached to hypnosis. Let’s try and list out a few myths. There are too many expectation of hypnosis, it has to be kept in mind that Hypnosis is not a cure-all, or a magical power which can cure everything in the world. This treatment is not going to make any changes over night. This can also not be used to manipulate people to do things that you want them to do. Neither is it a science or baseless.
What is forensic hypnosis?
Forensic Hypnosis helps in investigating Hypnosis, by using it as a mainframe tool. Hypnosis could be explained as a state of increased receptivity to suggestion. This can also be characterized as an altered state of consciousness but the degree changes from a very light to very deep situation. This also includes relaxation and an increase in awareness.
What is stage hypnosis?
Stage Hypnosis is considered as ‘unethical’ and ‘damaging’ to the overall profession of Hypnotherapy and this has been said for a long time. The most shocking thing is that a people who practice hypnotherapy, themselves consider it harmful. Stage hypnosis has also been accused of being manipulative and exploitative. Many professional stage hypnotists are trying to counter this claim by demonstrating that there are people who have volunteered to take part in the show fully understand what to expect.
What is brainwave synchronization?
For many years, man has known the power of the subconscious mind. There have been many stories that proved that, power of the mind can be put together to increase the bodily healing. Brain wave synchronization can also be used to improve the mental state however; this has not been proved with evidence.
