Body language

Body language can talk about various thing right from our behavior. It is the unspoken language. It is said that only up to about 10 percent of our communication is verbal.

Most of the communication is unspoken. Here are some basic of body language.

1. Smile People always welcome warm smiles and they think that as heartfelt emotion.

2. Eyes
If you fail to look someone in the eyes as you speak, people can make out that it could be dishonesty or hiding something. Also, shifting eye movement or looking somewhere else can give the same opinion.

If there is more than one person who is in a group, you need to look each person in the eye as you speak. You need to do this as you slowly turn to face the next person. This acknowledges him as well as maintain an eye contact. There are some people who suggest that by beginning with one person and moving clockwise around the group, you can ensure that you will not miss out on any person.

3. Attention Span / Attitude
There could be other people who can tell you about your attitude by the way you look. If you lose focus quickly on the other person and your attention goes off the person, it shows that you are disinterested, bored and even uncaring.

4. Attention Direction
If you sit or stand in such a way that you are blocking another in the party, you are said to be rude. You need to be sure to turn. This will make sure that everyone is included in the conversation. You can turn gently, at ease and slowly, while talking. This is done so that everyone is incorporated and involved in the conversation. Some people also suggest the clockwise movement.

5. Arms Folded / Legs Crossed
This kind of behavior is seen as defensive or even an end to the conversation. You need to have arms hang freely. You need to be open with open arms and if you need to cross legs, you should cross at your ankles and you should not cross by your knees. By sitting tightly folded up, it shows that you are not open to communications.

6. Head Shaking
If people are shaking their heads when you speak, it shows that you are with the person and agreeing to what the person is saying. There is no space for disagreement here.

7. Space / Distance
On the whole, people like their own personal space and you need to give people room. By being very close you can become intrusive and viewed as aggressive. Also by leaning, sitting or standing, leaning is considered as showing interest.
